Busy as a…Honey Bee!
Kimberly received a special gift of bees from her beekeeping mentor in 2023, a delightful Mother’s Day surprise! These bees have been exceptionally gentle (no pun intended). So far, she has only been stung once, without even noticing it!
UPDATE: She got stung again (May 2024) but she was STANDING IN THEIR FLIGHT PATH! She got RIGHT IN HER EYEBROW!! But nothing… UNTIL A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN SHE WAS SLEEPING ON HER STOMACH and wait for it… BAM! Swollen Face! She slept on that embedded stinger and RELEASED THE VENOM! She took a Benadryl , got dressed, and headed to the VA Emergency Room. Doc looked at her face and said “What swollen face?” I’d forgotten I took the Benadryl!!
Moral of the story… Don’t stand in the front OR SIDE of any hive – EVER! 🐝
